The central plaza in Hvar (with the ancient Spanish(?) fort uphill). We have the “stroll”, the “strut”, the “swagger” depending, I suppose, on the individual’s sense of self and the cultural hierarchy. We certainly have plenty of short dudes who strut. Vanquished cultures struggling for attention through their swagger. The nonplused who just stroll. We have the “spinners”, tourists whose heads and bodies swivel as they walk down the street trying to capture everything. We have the contemporary “cyclops” who have one eye visible and the other in the camera, iPhone, or the like. We have the the new “wobblies”–(not the political group of the 1920s)– young beauties who move deliciously but awkwardly in their high shoes on rough cobblestone streets and sidewalks. We all move. We all tell stories about ourselves in the way that we do.
