Peek-a-boo, you can see how readily their bodies disappear into the grass…. and how fortunate we were to see them at all.

The Hyacinth Macaw. The largest macaw in the world, and unworldly vivid blue color. About 30 inches long. There are only an estimated 5,000 left in the world, as they have been popular for their feathers and the home pet cage…… We saw maybe 5% of the world’s population.
The fence post offers some sense of its size.
From a distance the Jabiru Stork looked like a bleached out tree trunk, only to find this incredible specimen feeding on crabs and other smallish marsh creatures as they wash by in this constantly moving water….. a constantly moving place, this is.
Almost 5 feet tall…..
These Jabirus are REAL….. unbelievable
