The main draw for us to the Laikipia Wilderness in Kenya….. the African Wild Dog….. rare, hard to find, hard to see…… the best time to see them is when they are hunting in the wee hours of the morning or at sunset. Very efficient team hunters…. To watch them work is a marvel….. pity the prey, their chances are slim once the dogs are on them….. the tiny, ever so cute, dik dik seems to be their main diet. Image Reply
We tracked this pack several times over the week. Then they moved to a steep rock faced wall to set up a den for the matriarch to have her litter. Image Reply

As a couple of the ladies worked to get the baby out of the mud, the others kept close eyes, ears, and trunks focused on us….. as long as we posed no threat, everyone was cool. Image Reply
