Every little village has at least 3 temples, one for each key Hindu god… how many depends on the village size, prosperity, and number of families.

Attention to detail, exquisite architecture, and flowers to soften hard things.
Complex irrigation systems, often doubling back on each other, carrying out centuries of water rights, distribution priorities, hierarchies, all gravity fed from the distant volcanoes, all maintained by unwritten tradition.

Dotted throughout are thousands of little temples for offerings for fertility, good weather, good rice yields, everything needed for success to feed thousands of families. One temple for each plot, one for each family.

For centuries this IS the way it was done. Hard, hot, dirty, close to the earth.

On a hike through the rice paddies…. Georgia, on the right, our fearless leader in and outside of the bubble. Josh on the left and Tania were two of our 3 other guests. It was about 91 degrees today.
Another action-packed day of no food. Not a moment of struggle–except for periodic cravings, no real hunger.
