Elephants, hippos, warthogs all change coloration depending on their diet. Here the elephants are decidedly darker than elsewhere (and no brownish tints as elsewhere)…. Image Reply
LAIKIPIA WILDERNESS in north central Kenya, just beyond the northern end of the Maasi Mara. It is not frequently visited so the animals a much more wild as they are not familiar with the presence of people. Mount Kenya on the horizon. You can barely make out the African Augur Buzzard nest below us on a cliff face. There were two chicks in it and our host said that the parents will kick the weakest one out of the nest, preferring to raise only one baby. So, Joseph climbed all the way down the cliff, climbed back up in the tree at the base of the cliff, retrieved the smallest one, and ultimately brought it back up the cliff in a canvas bag….
