MOMBASA! Bunny’s parents and Rosemary moved here in 1937 for a couple of years. Mombasa today probably bears little resemblance to those days. Today, like many major cities, it is struggling to keep up with the many demands and pressures of old, new, and future.

Bunny quickly became fast friends with the kids…. Here they swamp her to look at the photos she took of them.

These kids are so eager to please and so full of joy—some brief respite for them to be away from, perhaps even forget, the conditions dominating the rest of their lives. Some moments for balance….

At the beginning of the day for their “Creative time” Bunny offered to do a couple of projects with the children. Here she is showing the teachers how to create woolen dolls using cardboard and yarn. Everyone mucked in including the headmaster, such enthusiasm from everyone

The look on their faces say it all, each child did a variation of the theme and much laughter took place when they looked at each other…

Everyone’s having a great time as they learn to decorate their new face masks…. No competition. Quiet: only the noise of concentration and fun.

Boys and girls all intently making their dolls from yarn Bunny brought. None of the boys was the least self-conscious of making and playing with their new dolls.
