With someone else’s advice, they had a raggedy paper price list for the classes of the goods. Now, it becomes definitional—we must negotiate which class each of the items fit into. Then we have a reference point to begin the negotiations for the goods themselves. Image Reply
Guy negotiating for these treasures… it was fun, even if outnumbered…. There were 11 of the men all talking in Kswahili and ultimately we bought it all! Our guide later told us that they agreed (in their language) that it was better to sell everything than leave one of the woman without a sale. Gracious. Image Reply
